Instead of listening to music when I’m driving, lately I have been exposing myself to a ton of different podcasts.
Podcasts have recently gained wind and I feel like my generation has taken and run with them. It’s even easy to start your own, anyone can.
A prime example of that would be Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, two friends start a podcast called 2 Dope Queens. Not thinking anything can come from it, they speak their truths and talk about things relevant to society.
Now, they have their own live comedy show in Brooklyn, New York, and starred in a HBO series!
Podcasts are available on Spotify and Apple. They’re definitely easily accessible to anyone with a smartphone. But, I’m a huge fan of the ones I’ve found on Spotify.
Some of my favorite and suggested podcast picks are as follows:
- Glowing Up with Esther and Caroline
- Kalyn’s Coffee Talk
- The Daily Boost
- 10% Happier with Dan Harris
- The Ultimate Health Podcast by Dr. Jesse Chappus & Marni Wasserman
- The Savvy Psychologist
- An Audio Guide to Happiness
- The School of Greatness
- Stuff You Should Know
- TED Radio Hour
Each one of these podcasts reaches a number of topics and genres. I play around and don’t have a true favorite. But what I love the most is that each episode has a name and a summary so you know exactly what you’re getting into.
Lately I’m having trouble getting out of bed in the morning and I can’t find a groove for a morning routine. I’m either late and look fabulous with tons of energy, or I’m on time look horrendous, and need three espresso shots to the face.
I looked under The Daily Boost podcast and saw an episode called “Master Your Mornings.” It’s these little niches that have such a big pay off in steering me in the right direction.
They even provide the length of the podcast, which is the most underrated tool. If I’m commuting to Drexel in Philly, I want to find an episode that fits my day. But I also want it to be longer than a usual 12 minute one so I’m not fiddling with phone while I’m driving.
These are my favorite podcasts. Let me know what yours are in the comments below!
